Safran celebrates the millionth wire harness assembly delivered for the Boeing 787 Dreamliner
Safran Electrical & Power recently delivered the one-millionth wire harness assembly for the Boeing 787.
"Providing the wire harnesses for the 787 is the largest scope of work we have ever won. The entire team continues to look for ways to bring additional value to the 787 and its customers and we look forward to delivering another million harnesses in the future," said John Alter, 787 Program Director, Safran Electrical & Power.
Seven Safran production sites are working on parts for the 787 program.
1,300 people are working worldwide (Everett, Washington, Charleston, South Carolina, Denton, Texas, Wichita, Kansas, Chihuahua, Mexico, Casablanca, Morocco and Nagoya, Japan) in program management, engineering, manufacturing and installation on the 787 program.
There are also more than 50 global suppliers providing Safran more than 600,000 feet of wire and protecting sleeves, 330,000 components (connectors, contacts, backshell, etc.) enabling the Safran team to install approximately 1,500 wire bundles, electrical panels, junction boxes and landing gear conduits per airplane.
"Safran's delivery of the one millionth harness assembly is a great milestone we celebrate with them and a prime example of why they are one of our top suppliers," said Brian Baird, Vice President, Aircraft Materials and Structures, Supplier Management, Boeing Commercial Airplanes.
Last year, Safran Electrical and Power was awarded Supplier of the Year for Production & Design by Boeing.
